Cadet Program
Meadow Lake Fire Department Cadet Program
Program begins October 1st, 2025!
Purpose
To engage high school-aged individuals who are interested in pursuing a future with the fire department after graduation.
To provide foundational training and preparation for new members, while supporting the growth and sustainability of fire department membership.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be between the ages of 15 and 18.
Have no criminal record.
Submit a signed parental/guardian consent form.
Able to safely participate in physical training activities. Disclosure of any relevant medical conditions is voluntary but encouraged to ensure appropriate support and safety.
Time Commitment
Participants are expected to meet the following time requirements:
Complete 1–2 hours per week of independent study (online or using provided materials).
Attend a weekly evening training session every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Program Cost
Free of charge to all approved participants.
Cadet Requirements
Participants must provide the following:
Durable jeans or work pants suitable for physical activity.
Closed-toe, lace-up shoes or work boots.
Reliable internet access at home (or a plan in place to complete required online coursework).
