PROTECT OUR PIPES: STOP SEWER ABUSE!
Flushing the wrong items costs taxpayers $150,000/year and risks sewage backups into homes and businesses.
Every time you flush wipes, hygiene products, or grease, you contribute to costly clogs and environmental harm.
Only the 3 Ps belong in the toilet: Pee, Poo, and (Toilet) Paper.
DO FLUSH:
- Toilet paper (it dissolves quickly).
NEVER FLUSH:
- Wipes (even "flushable" ones - they don’t break down!)
- Feminine hygiene products, condoms, toys, clothing, or cotton swabs
- Fats/oils/grease (FOG) - scrape into trash, not drains
- Medications or chemicals
Why it matters:
- Sewer blockages flood basements and pollute Meadow Lake.
- Repairs cost $150,000+/year, raising utility bills for everyone.
How you can help:
- Trash all wipes — never flush them.
- Dispose of FOG safely — let it cool, then scrape into trash.
- Report blockages — call (306) 236 3622 or visit email publicworks@meadowlake.ca
